Hi, my name is Susan Garner Armes and I'm a soil consultant. I provide on-site soil evaluations for conventional drainfields. I am licensed by the state of Virginia as a conventional on-site soil evaluator. I also provide soil evaluations for land use planning.

I graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelors degree in soil science.  After college, I worked for the Soil Conservation Service for three years.  In 1991, I began to provide perc testing and land use planning services for residents of Southside Virginia. My goal is to provide land owners and home owners with the most economical way to install a drainfield system while maintaining Southside Virginia's water quality.  Health conditions required me to stop temporarily, but in 2011 I was able to return to my passion of soil consulting and I look forward to providing you with quality service. 

Because of changes in the regulations to ensure a healthy water supply, it is more difficult to find a suitable perc site for your home.  But, I will assure you that I will evaluate all possible sites before determining a conventional drainfield is not going to pass regulations. I hope, in the future, to obtain my alternative on-site evaluator license and provide evaluations for alternative drainfields.  I hope to obtain my alternative on-site evaluator license by 2013.
